Paris Reborn to Appear in Simplified Chinese

During a trip to Beijing last week, Stephane Kirkland met with the publisher of the Simplified Chinese edition of Paris Reborn, to be released in the first quarter of 2014.

Rights to the the Simplified Chinese edition of the book have been acquired by SSAP, a publishing company based in Beijing.

SSAP is the publishing wing of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). It has a rich catalogue of publications in the fields of sociology, history, law, education, environment, economics, and linguistics, aimed both at specialist and general public audiences.

The story of the transformation of Paris is of global interest, and Chinese readers certainly are among those keen to better understanding how the French capital became what it is.

The subject is especially meaningful in the context of modern China, where rapid urbanization and great changes to the urban landscapes bring up many of the issues discussed in Paris Reborn.
